One of the first trends we see at the beginning of each year is Pantone’s color of the year. For 2025, “Mocha Mousse”, Pantone 17-1230 was selected. It is a deliciously comfortable chocolate or coffee hue! According to the self -proclaimed color authority, Mocha Mousse is “a warming, brown hue imbued with richness.” At llyn strong, we can show you many beautiful stones that display this very decadent color tone. Some of our favorites are brown and cinnamon colored Zircon, champagne and cognac diamonds, chocolate pearls, Tourmaline, and Garnet. Stop by our store located at 1322 East Washington St. to see our vast array of colored stones. To read more about this year’s color selection and gemstones, please see the American Gem Trade Association’s article in ePrism Magazine.
From the Studio
Even after the holidays and our short rest to rejuvenate, our “elves” at llyn strong start the year like busy bees! We are all finishing lots of custom jobs that were not gifts for Christmas.
Everyone who commissions a custom piece with llyn strong works with her team several times throughout the process to make sure the piece is a perfect fit artistically, technically, and personally. Allow the team to take you on a journey from initial consultation to 3D rendering, castings, and finally a beautiful one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry appraised by our Graduate Gemologist. Use stones you already have or allow our gemologist to source high quality diamonds and colored gemstones perfectly suited to your taste and lifestyle. Each piece is thoughtfully and artistically crafted to your style, culminating in a piece that is sentimental as well as long-lasting. Check out our detailed step-by-step process in the link below.
One of the very personal and beautiful custom pieces we are finishing in January is an18K yellow gold clasp and pendant that is set with a 4.44ct oval Paraiba tourmaline. The scrolly pattern surrounding the stone are the initials of our customer’s five grandchildren and their birthstones. What a great story this piece evokes!

Another piece we are working on is a men’s ring in 18K white and yellow gold featuring a natural 2.21ct. Montana blue-yellow sapphire that was purchased at one of our Gemstone Roundtables. Complementing the stone on the opposite side of the ring is a cushion shape of a variety of blue and yellow bead set sapphires, making this a very wearable and handsome ring.

The first stock (or piece for our cases) that we make in the studio each year is always one of our Unbreakable Hearts. This year’s first Unbreakable Heart is “Sparked by Love,” inspired by the upcoming birth of “Baby Boy Strong.” We are so excited and can’t wait for him to arrive! What a beautiful change in our lives he will bring. To learn more about our “Unbreakable Heart” collection, visit our website at:
All About the Stones
During the month of February each year, Tucson, Arizona becomes the mecca for colored stones and fossils from all over the world! llyn and her husband Brad will be making the trip to Tucson representing llyn strong fine art jewelry, as Sydney will be busy being a new mother! This will be llyn’s 45th year traveling to meet new stone dealers and check out what is new in the industry. We purchase stones for our inventory and to showcase in our two Gemstone Roundtables each year. The dates for our 2025 Spring Roundtable are April 5th, 6th, 8th, and 9th and for our Fall Roundtable, they are October 11th, 12th, 14th, and 15th.
