7 Different Ways Men Wear Jewelry

Celebrate Your Father! Father’s Day is June 16, 2024.

Father’s Day was the inception of Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington. She and her five siblings were raised by their father, William Jackson Smart, a Civil War Veteran, and a single parent. The first Father’s Day was observed in Spokane on June 19th, 1910, but it was not recognized as a national holiday until Lyndon Johnson’s executive order in 1966. This year we are introducing a new line of jewelry just for the man in your life!

1. Man-Brooches or Bro-Brooches

One of the best ways for a man to wear jewelry is in the form of a brooch. There has been a real resurgence in men wearing a brooch or pin on the lapel of a jacket, whether it is a denim or sports jacket to wearing a brooch on the lapel of a tux. Man or “bro” brooches add a sophisticated touch to a suit or jacket. This was quite evident at the Academy Awards this year as seen in Yahoo!

At llyn strong fine art jewelry in Greenville, SC, we were ahead of the curve, designing, selling, and encouraging men to wear brooches for more than 15 years.

2. Rings

Rings have always been a staple in men’s jewelry. Historically, men wore signet rings and used them to imprint into wax their seal to close important letters and documents. In essence, it created their signature. The designers at llyn strong love to create custom rings for men with colored stones or unusual diamonds. We can create rings as traditional as a signet ring to rings as unusual as our own “strong Life” rings (part of our strong Life jewelry collection) incorporating imagery to represent different aspects of your life! Our new men’s collection includes casual and very wearable one-of-a-kind rings using a combination of metals such as oxidized silver or rusted iron in conjunction with yellow gold, rose gold or white gold. We are also featuring colored stone rings with a combination of metals. Men are finding that they enjoy wearing more than just a plain band.

3. Necklaces and Pendants

For years, men have worn chains – often adding one or more pendants. At llyn strong fine art jewelry, we make chains as well as pendants in a variety of materials that are appropriate for men. With men’s jewelry trending toward being more fashionable, we also have a vast collection of pearls and colored stone beads. Pearls or a large clasp or pendant is a great new look to be worn with a tuxedo instead of a bowtie. It makes a bespoke statement for that black tie event!

4. Bracelets

Cuff bracelets, as well as heavy link bracelets, are a great way for a man to wear jewelry in a more understated way. Bracelets can be made of any metal or a combination of metals and can feature any kind of stone; they can be stacked or worn alone.

5. Cuff Links

Cuff links date back to as early as the 17th century. They were originally called “boutons de manchettes” or sleeve buttons by French tailors.

Prior to that, men’s cuffs were held together by ribbons, ties and strings. At llyn strong fine art jewelry, we make cuff links using a variety of metals in conjunction with colored stones, meteorite, druzy and even lion’s claws.

Traditionally, cuff links are monogrammed or made with a coat of arms. llyn strong’s designers can create custom cuff links to commemorate many different occasions.

6. Earrings

Earrings for men have been worn for centuries in many cultures around the world. In Western cultures, the popularity of men wearing earrings has varied over time. The trend of men wearing earrings has become more mainstream since the 1980s, and more popularized by musicians, actors and celebrities wearing them as a form of self-expression and as a fashion statement. Earrings can be as simple as a diamond or colored stone stud, a hoop, or a dangle earring.

7. Money Clip

What better way for a man to show his style than pulling out a beautifully personalized money clip! At llyn strong, we have made many custom- designed money clips. They can be made to represent the person carrying it or with a great image to represent a company logo.
